A huge thank you to the Gay Lea Foundation for their grant of $25,000. This grant allowed us to buy more Somali books for the library and allowed us to hire 3 more part-time staff. We now have a part-time Librarian to assist our full-time Librarian and to offer tutoring and literacy classes from the library. We also hired 2 new Adult Literacy teachers to teach in the Kalamann village and the Shabelle village. We are also recruiting another full-time Mobile Resource Teacher but have not found a suitable candidate yet. Thank you again Gay Lea!
Gay Lea Foundation Directors Janet Ringelberg, Frances Johnston and Don Dietrich with Education 4 Change President, Abdi Maawiye and Vice President, Chandra Hunter.
Students Helping Students
Schools across the Waterloo region are supporting Education 4 Change. Children see the difference that they can make by fundraising through the smallest of acts. Their creativity and enthusiasm has led to a deep connection with a project on the other side of the world. When people feel empowered to make the world a better place, nothing can stop them! A portion of our financial support comes for our local school communities.
We would like to thank the following schools who have donated to Education 4 Change in the last few years:
Centennial Public School (Waterloo)
Meadowlane Public School
Winston Churchill Public School
Sunnyside Senior Public School
